I have a passion for bringing the Spanish speaking and English speaking communities together and promoting high levels of achievement for ALL students. I have more than 20 years experience in education and most recently I have been an instructional leader at Loma Vista Immersion Academy, the first and only Spanish dual immersion elementary school in Petaluma.

Mentoring and supporting current and future teachers has been one of my greatest contributions and impact in education in Sonoma County. Many other student teachers that are currently working in dual immersion programs in Sonoma County have learned from my instructional methods, creativity, and connection with students. Specifically, I have taught beginning teachers GLAD strategies (Guided Language Acquisition and Design) as well as language development through math practices. Ultimately, imparting these research based instructional methods will increase student achievement, higher levels of education and economic opportunities for underrepresented populations.

I have been an instructional leader and collaborator in many capacities over the years. Currently I am teacher on special assignment, in addition to teaching 5th grade full time, through which I have worked on the master schedule, collaborated with RTI to monitor student progress, along with other administrative responsibilities. Throughout each project, I collaborate with all stakeholders and gather input before making any changes or final decisions.
