SEAL (Sobrato Early Academic Language) Model
District Relations Administrator
CSAPIEN
As a relatively new member of a team of District Relations Administrators, I serve as a liaison between the SEAL organization and districts implementing the SEAL model. Prior to joining the SEAL team, I spent over 28 years working in various capacities in Gilroy Unified School District. I began my career as a teacher of Language Arts, Social Studies, ESL and Spanish at South Valley Junior High. I then worked at Rod Kelley Elementary School for fifteen years as an assistant principal, teacher, and literacy facilitator. While at Rod Kelley, I helped lead the implementation of the second elementary dual immersion program in Gilroy. During my last seven years in Gilroy Unified School District, I served as principal of Glen View Elementary School. As principal, I led my staff in the implementation of the SEAL model and am a passionate supporter of SEAL’s mission. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in English, three teaching credentials and my Masters in Educational Administration from Santa Clara University.

I am currently the project manager for the Bilingual Professional Development Project grant from the California Department of Education. The three primary goals of the grant are: Goal 1: To increase the number of fully authorized BCLAD teachers in the consortium districts; Goal 2: To increase the number of BCLAD teachers who are placed in bilingual settings; Goal 3: To improve the quality of bilingual instruction for English Learners through the professional development and support of developing identified BCLAD teachers.
